# Install on Mac

- **OS:** macOS 13 or newer.
- **Not supported** **on mobile devices** (e.g. iPad, iPhone)
- **Disk Space:** 1 GB of available disk space.

**An account is required to use the PDF PRO Desktop App.**

## Create an account
To create an account on our website, follow these simple steps:
Visit our homepage at [pdfpro.com](http://pdfpro.com/). Click on the **Create Account** link.
Enter your email and click on the **Join With Email** button. You can also use the **Continue with Google **option.
This will send you an email with an **activation link**.

**NOTE\:** Email activation MUST be completed using your preferred email application on the Mac. **Activation will not work if done on a mobile device.**

The email you receive has a **Sign In** link that expires after 30 minutes.

### Personal or Business options
When the **Sign In** link is clicked, The **Select Account Type** screen appears.
The options available are
**Personal** - For individual use and personal projects
**Business** - For teams, businesses and organizations.
In this example we will select the Personal option.

Press **Continue** to proceed to the next screen - **Set Password**
This password will be used to log in to PDF PRO for desktop. You will be prompted to download PDF Pro for desktop in the next step if you don't already have it installed on your computer.

**The screen will automatically redirect you to your Dashboard .**

**How to log in to the desktop app:**
1\. Download and install PDF Pro on your device
2\. Open the application and click 'Login'
3\. Use your email and the password you set during account creation

**The software is now required to be downloaded and installed.**

## The Application Download Process
The **Application Download** link can be found on the Dashboard page, as shown below:
### Download the PDF Pro Installer
Permission is required to download the installer. Select **Allow** to proceed.

### Run the PDF Pro Installer
Once the download is complete, open your **Downloads** folder and locate the file named **PDFPro.dmg**.
Double-click **PDFPro.dmg** to open the installer window.
In the window that appears, drag the **PDF Pro** icon into the **Applications** folder.
Open Finder, go to **Applications**, and double-click **PDF Pro** to start using the app.
A warning message will appear. Select **Open** to continue.

The **PDF Pro sign in** screen appears.
## Start the Trial
**Sign in** with the email and password.

You have **10 attempts** to enter your login details correctly. If these are unsuccessful, your account will be temporarily locked for **15 minutes** before you can try again.
If there are **10 more unsuccessful attempts within an hour**, the lockout period will increase to **30 minutes**.
This is in place to help keep your account safe, and you’ll be able to try again after the timeout.

Click **Continue trial** to open the application.

Welcome to PDF Pro.

**If you encounter the following prompt on macOS when working with PDF Pro:**

**"PDF Pro" would like to access data from other apps.**
Keeping app data separate makes it easier to manage your privacy and security.

You can resolve this by granting the app Full Disk Access:
**System Settings** → **Privacy & Security** → **Full Disk Access** → enable it for **PDF Pro**.
After that, the message should no longer appear.

The trial includes all available tools and functionality. **If, after the 15-day trial period, you decide not to purchase PDF Pro,** **the trial will expire and the software will no longer function**. You can then simply uninstall the application from your computer.
