optimize when you optimize a pdf, you reduce the file size by compressing images, removing unnecessary data, and streamlining content for faster performance and easier sharing to optimize a pdf document there are 2 options to access the optimize file menu choice open your pdf and click on the create create tab, then click optimize file optimize file alternatively, you can use the optimize option found under the file file tab from file optimize menu choice when optimize file is selected, the optimize pdf dialog box will be displayed make the required choices that meet your file size requirements and usage reduce size option reduce size option reduce size and print ready option reduce size and print ready option custom option custom option when you are satisfied with the choices, click the optimize optimize button the result dialog box will appear, showing details about the process result of optimization in this instance, the example file was significantly reduced in size flatten when you flatten a pdf document, it combines all layers into one, removing interactivity such as fillable forms and checkboxes this ensures consistent viewing and prevents further editing to flatten a pdf document there are 2 options to access the flatten file menu choice open your pdf and click on the create create tab, then click flatten file flatten file from create tab alternatively, you can use the optimize option found under the file file tab the flatten document menu choice is one of the options available there from file optimize menu choice when selected, the flatten pdf document dialog box will be displayed flatten pdf dialog box make the required selections and click create create the result dialog box will appear, providing information about the process in this instance, the example file was flattened, resulting in only a minor change in file size split (extract) pdf pro extracts content from the last saved version of the pdf file so, be sure to save your pdf file before extracting pages to split or extract pages from a pdf, open your pdf and click on the create create tab, then click split file split file menu choice the split pdf file dialog box will be displayed split options ❶ ❶ option to select specific pages or a page range to split from the main document ❷ ❷ option to create a new file name or the system will automatically append a version number to the original ❸ ❸ option to either remove the page from the original pdf or leave it intact ❹ ❹ option to open the new file after creation note the sample document currently shows 1 1 of 3 pages in this instance, we will remove one page, and the page count in the original document will update accordingly make the required selections and click split split the page extracted from the original document will now open as it was selected to do so it was a single page extraction and is indicated by the 1 of 1 1 of 1 page count split (extracted) page in this instance, the original document has one less page because the option to remove the page from the source document was selected now shows 1 of 2 1 of 2 new version of original pdf
