error message failed getting hardwareid could not get device id the following error message can appear when you either are logging in to start the program or trying to access a pdf file when you are using the program you will get one of the following screen messages login error message error message within the program recovering wmi ( windows management instrumentation) definition fixing a windows system component that has become damaged or is not working correctly wmi repository issues can occur on windows 10 and windows 11 to check if the wmi repository is consistent (working correctly), open command prompt with administrator privileges (windows) click the start button type command prompt , and select the run as administrator type command prompt the command prompt window will open (type the following) winmgmt /verifyrepository winmgmt /verifyrepository press enter if you get a message stating wmi repository is consistent , like below, then the system is ok wmi repository is consistent if the message is as above then the system is ok no need to continuing with the next steps advise pdf pro technical support that the system is ok if another message appears, then proceed with the next steps if another message appears, then proceed with the next steps example of a failed message means continue with next steps in the same command prompt window, run the three following commands ( type them in one at a time and press enter enter after each step ) cd c \windows\system32\wbem mofcomp exe cimwin32 mof regsvr32 cimwin32 dll the successful result will look something like this after 3 prompts entered please try the login process again to see if the error has been resolved if not, please advise the pdf pro technical support team
